Manager I, Estimating with an established solar electrical contractor in Avon, MN. An estimating role for someone who knows electrical construction from the field and can price it. Projects: utility-scale solar/storage.

The work

Build takeoffs and estimates from plans and specifications for utility-scale solar/storage electrical work: labor units, material, gear, subcontractors and general conditions.
Assemble bids and proposals, run bid day, and walk the project team through scope at handoff.
Price change orders and alternates during construction and keep the project manager's budget honest.
Support preconstruction: conceptual and budget estimates, design-assist pricing and constructability input.

What they are looking for

4 or more years estimating electrical construction; field experience as an electrician or foreman is a strong plus.
Fluent in estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst or Trimble, and comfortable in plans, specifications and spreadsheets.
Able to read one-lines, panel schedules, lighting and power plans and specifications, and spot what is missing from the drawings.
Hands-on with subcontractor buyout and preconstruction.

Pay

Pay: $100,000 to $140,000 a year. That is what this role pays in Minnesota at the experience they are asking for. The employer did not publish a figure; the final number is set with them based on your experience.
